Meet Andrew Larkin
We are excited to share that Andrew Larkin has joined the Elliot Watson Financial Planning team in the role of Adviser Support. Andrew will be working closely with Elliot to support him on delivering comprehensive advice to our clients. Andrew has a wealth of experience previously working as an adviser for the Commonwealth Bank. We are thrilled to have Andrew as part of the team. Let’s learn more about Andrew:
What are your qualifications and previous work experience?
In 2013 I completed my Bachelor of Commerce with a major in finance. I then furthered my education and competed a Diploma of Financial Planning in 2014.
Before working at Elliot Watson Financial Planning, I started in the industry as a paraplanner for 2 years at a small advice firm in Newcastle. Then after obtaining my diploma I worked for 4 years as a Financial Adviser at the Commonwealth Bank.
What do you enjoy about financial planning?
Helping people. I enjoy being able to have a positive impact on people’s lives. It is very rewarding being able to see the progress overtime in client’s financial situation and the difference it makes to the quality of their life.
What do you like to do on the weekends?
On the weekends I love spending time with my partner and our two dogs, Phoenix a Kelpie and Penny our retired greyhound. We are foodies, so we love trying new places to eat and drink. We try to get out and do new things as much as possible.
I also love to keep active and sport in general, either watching or playing. Golf is my passion and I try and play a round most weekends.
What are your goals for the future?
I would like to be able to buy another house soon, something with a bit more room and a bigger backyard for our dogs. As well as dropping a few shots off my golf handicap!
What is the best piece of financial advice you have ever been given?
My dad always emphasised the importance of making sure we put a little bit of money away each week for the future. The practice of saving is something that most Australians don’t do enough of.
